Want a chandelier that makes a statement? It is right here-hand hammered copper with repousse designs-stained glass-has 59 inch drop-the triangular form is 24 inches on each side-rewired -no condition problems-no repairs-was made by first-rate craftsman-most likely made in the Middle East over a 100 years ago- believe it was designed as center lantern in a mosque--the raised designs appear almost Art Nouveau--makes me suspect even Persian influence--piece is heavy-weighs 70-80 pounds--perfect for a high ceiling foyer or stair well--glass colors are beautiful and brown patina on copper warm--if you live in a trailer park, pass this one up

When the Norwegians became independent from Sweden in the early 20th century, there was a burst of pent up Norwegian nationalism--call Norwegian revival or Viking revival-but this ship chandelier was a product of this period--you do not have to be a descendant of Lief Erickson to appreciate this marvelous work of art--made of sheets of brass with raised designs-great fierce figurehead--cut colored faceted glass port holes that come alive when lighted-even the Viking ships planked sides are there-rewired-no condition problems--some oxidation to brass from flying through the salty skies of Puerto Rico--easily removed-35 inches in length-53 inch drop-12 inches deep--decorative and historically interesting object
