Eisenglas is a mineral compond that is flame resistant and was used in windows of fancy iron parlour stoves and to a lessor extent in lamp shades associated gas flame or candles--was in use last part of 19th century and early 20th century--it was sought after not only for its fire resistant qualities but also light transfered thru the shades is very pretty-amber colored light-This pair of lamps are 24 inches high with 5.25 inch base--made of spelter-a combination of lead and tin--these are very heavy, so the lead content is unusually high-lamp shades are 7 inches--originally they were gas fired and later converted to electic-- fantasy design-galleon and Indians--paint them your own color if you do not like gold--nobody else on your block will have them--lamps are over 100 years old-no condition problems or repairs
