This is a very striking African sculpture of a imposing lady dressed in a spectacular dress--the design of the dress with its colors should be copied by a dress designer today-sculpture is large-25.5 inches high and 7.25 inches wide--it is heavy, carved from high density tropical wood-ca 1920s-from Ivory Coast--minor damage to base-sculpture is free standing--given the powerful impression the statue makes, the lady had to be a tribal queen--these colonial carvings are becoming more difficult to find as they represent a period in Africa most Africans would like to forget
