Carved Japanese temple guardian-mid 19th century-large 41 inches high -13 inches at widest point and has a base 9 inches by 7 inches---the story is that this piece was presented to US Army officer by members of a a Japanese village as gift during the occupation in WWII--that it was at one time attached to a building there can be no doubt--you can see the brass fittings on the back of the statue--the statue is about 140 yrs old and could be older--condition is good--couple cracks from drying--this handsome devil should scare the hell out of any demons lurking in your home
