Rare large engraving by famous French artist Jacques Callot 1592-1632-listed-sales record-- in extensive museum collections-the engraving is titled the "Fete From the War of Beauty" This is number five in a series of six-scene from the Piazza Santa Croce-piece is recorded in book by Salvadori-made in 1616-signed in plate-plate mark impression on margins-on heavy soft paper-watermarked on lower right side outside plate--plate size 9 inches by 12 inches--overall 14 inches by 19.5 inches-data in Latin on bottom of image--dramatic scene-

Rare etching with engraving with dry point by Jusepe de Ribera-1591-1632--this piece was sponsored in Naples under the Viceroy of Spain in 1628- Ribera made very few etchings{ 18 different only} of which this one is the most famous--Silenus is a demi god of drunks-leader of the satyrs-and foster father of Bacchus-god of wine-- piece is excellent condition-when found in Puerto Rico had heavy foxing-- now recently conserved-has impressed indentations from plate--14 inches by 10.75 inches--paper is watermarked lower right hand side outside picture-data on print indicates it was made in Rome 1649-other data also in Italian indicating noble patron--also mention of the city of Messina--has sale record over 3000 usd-framed in gold leaf antique frame-right hand side has gilt missing--black mat acid free.

The Title: La desgraciada muerte de PEPE ILLO en plaza de Madrid Spanish etching by GOYA -from the LA TAUROMAQUIA series #33 no frame size: 13 7/8"x 17 11/16" - condition : excellent. title:"LA TAUROMAQUIA" consisting of series of 28 etchings . The piece is from an edition limited to 200 made in the Calcografia for the Circulo de Bellas Artes of Madrid. Original Edition was published in 1816. Then, six subsequent editions posthumously published by the Calcografia in 1855, 1876, 1905, 1921, 1928 and 1937. Uncertain which edition is this piece- It is rare to find this nice impression of subject. The etching is done with burnished aquatint on heavy laid paper. Circular embossed stamp with portrait of Goya in lower right margin . Plate marks impressed around image--plates now under control of museums, so these actual etchings become rare and rarer.
