Powerful limited edition lithograph by American Umberto Romano [1905-1984] signed in the lithograph lower left side as well in pencil outside at the bottom-depicts strong horses and men-circus scene-probably made in the forties--artist -titled- CIRCUS RIDERS IN THE NIGHT--paintings in Fogg Museum, Wochester Museum,Addison Gallery, Rhode Island School of Design,Smith College Museum-- it appears works influenced by Italian modernists-won prizes-no condition problems-image 11 inches by 9 inches--with with frame and mat-21 inches by 17 inches_

This lithograph is one of three recently acquired in Puerto Rico--It is painted by German artist Eduard Hilderbrandt 1818-1869- it is signed on the lower right and on the lower left hand side JAPAN NAGASAKI is painted into the litho-14.5 inches by 9.5 inches-add 1/2 inch for gold leaf frame--there is minor foxing over the mountains and the photos are so annotated-otherwise condition is excellent.artist spent most of his life traveling and his paintings are made at the site--this litho came from Germany via Venezuela and finally to Puerto Rico-like the artist the work is well traveled-any distortions or reflections are the result of photographing thru glass in less than studio conditions--this not only beautiful -it is a historical record of Nagasaki ,Japan at about 150 years ago--if the Japanese are not broke, they should by it and put in the Nagasaki historical museum--it is most certainly cheaper than Rockerfeller Center was and much better buy--Artist has serious sales record and listed extensively-found in musuems in France and Germany

This is one of three lithographs recently acquired in Puerto Rico-- the painter is Eduard Hilderbrandt-1818- 1869--he is well listed and has serious sales records--his works hang in French and German museums-litho is 13 inches by 9.5 inches add 1/2 inch for gold leaf frame-signed with Siam location indicated in the litho-- painter spent his whole life traveling around the world--this litho has been in one family over a 100 yrs--came from Germany to Venezuela and to Puerto Rico-no condition problems--beautiful lithograph depicting a lone elephant at a watering place in tropical Siam at sunset--like its creator the work is well traveled- was original painted on the site--litho is at least 150 yrs old--discoloration and reflection in the painting due to the fact in was photographed thru glass in less than studio conditions
