These two bronze vessels,i.e Askos, were inspired from models found in Greece during English excavations-they were made in England in the regency period,ca 1840s--they represent elaborate goat skin libation vessels--one has a antico verde green patina-the other a brown patina--though different, they are the same in spirit and close enough in size to act as a pair on a mantle or elsewhere--these were made to celebrate neo classic period in England-green jug is 7 inches high-6 inches wide and 4 inches deep-the brown piece with the hairless lion or dog handle is 7 inches high by 6 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep--pieces were also made in sterling--rare pieces-to find two outside private collections is unusual-surface should be cleaned, waxed or oiled-no repairs or condition problems
