Polish Bronze Plaque--Jozef Pilsudski-1930s
This bronze plaque of Marshal Jozef Pilsudski was struck in the 1930s to honor a hero of Poland--Pilsudski was responsible for the stinging defeat of the Russian Bolsheviks--in a famous battle-Miracle of the Vistula in the 1920s--this Winter War was probably the last great cavalry engagement--Pilsudski later become an authoritarian leader and held Poland together during very trying times--Pilsudskis body is buried in The Wawel Castle in Cracow with the Polish kings-and by his direction his heart was buried in a church in Wilnus, Lithuania-at that time part of Poland--high relief bronze plaque-8 inch diameter-left side has Polish word for marshal-on right side Pilsudskis name-no condition problems--in this case the man and the myth are the same
