Persian Ceremonial Sprinklers 200yrs
Persian Ceremonial Sprinklers. Silver on brass. Ca 1800. ostrich eggs heavily carved, one repaired - about half the silver on brass still exists. These are wildly decorative pieces-.probably contained rose water for libation or purification and were used ritually during shiite celebrations--by the way they also rattle as you sprinkle--some might argue there is a musical component to these beautiful pieces--there is probably some liturgical reason that there is a pair-- good size-19 inches tall with 5 inch diameter--believed to be Qjar based on the decoration on the eggs
