These Spanish Colonial batons were carried by chieftons or leaders in Peru and Bolivia-usually on horseback-always trimmed in silver and were symbols of authority-had forged iron tip that was used as animal prod,but more importantly, it was thrust into the ground to determine if the rocky soil could be planted-wood with silver highlights-38 inches long-minor dings to silver top-18th century
