| Very rare Spanish Colonial carved wood santo of Christ flagellated--losses-recently mounted on tropical hardwood stepped base-can be detached for transport-24 inches high-mounted 27 inches high-back of figure displays deep, vicious, bloody wounds from flagellation-- carved bone implanted to reflect spinal cord-glass or flint eyes-figure was probably attached to a stake--ca 1700--most likely Mexican given the Aztec blood culture-very high quality carving by skilled artist--only one I have ever sold or seen. | |||||||||||
