| The Title: La desgraciada muerte de PEPE ILLO en plaza de Madrid Spanish etching by GOYA -from the LA TAUROMAQUIA series #33 no frame size: 13 7/8"x 17 11/16" - condition : excellent. title:"LA TAUROMAQUIA" consisting of series of 28 etchings . The piece is from an edition limited to 200 made in the Calcografia for the Circulo de Bellas Artes of Madrid. Original Edition was published in 1816. Then, six subsequent editions posthumously published by the Calcografia in 1855, 1876, 1905, 1921, 1928 and 1937. Uncertain which edition is this piece- It is rare to find this nice impression of subject. The etching is done with burnished aquatint on heavy laid paper. Circular embossed stamp with portrait of Goya in lower right margin . Plate marks impressed around image--plates now under control of museums, so these actual etchings become rare and rarer. | |||||||||
